Congratulations
to Lensbaby Guru Luca Lacche, whose book
The
Japanese Haunting has been named a Staff Pick at self-publishing
site Blurb.
Says Luca, “Japan is not Asia, is not Europe, it’s oriental
and western at the same time but in its own unique way,
so different from any other Asian place - and every detail
and view in Japan inspire the mind and the eye to creating,
to seeing and expressing in a peculiar way... the Japanese
mood is something deeply involving, and definitely addictive
in the best acception of the term.”
Luca has a second self-published book, LO SGUARDO VAGO
E ALTRE STORIE, exclusively featuring Lensbaby images,
also available through Blurb. |

CONFESSIONS
OF A TEEN IDOL
Lensbaby footage plays a part in VHI’s new reality TV
show Confessions of a Teen Idol.
Director of Photography Guido Frenzel explains his motivation
for using a Lensbaby on the project: “A Lensbaby adds
an organic quality to the the otherwise superclean look
of HD video.”
He also thinks the Lensbaby look fits neatly with the
theme of the show, which follows a group of of erstwhile
teen idols as they try to reclaim fame and fortune.
“The show has a retrospective quality; a lot of it is
about the memory of stardom and the ’selective focus’
of the show’s stars when it comes to this time in their
lives. Lensbaby’s selective focus was a perfect visual
tool to show this aspect of the stars’ psychology.”
